The "Long Nights Moon"

So-called because it rises closest to the winter solstice, the longest night in the northern
hemisphere. It will be above the horizon for 15 hours tonight. The highest soaring moon in 18 years.

I was going to try for a moon shot tonight, got the long lens and tripod all ready, and then...FOG! Thanks for this beautiful shot.

Nice - I went out the same night to try to capture a shot similar to your fantastic Lick Observatory photo. Unfortunately, it was cloudy in Los Angeles. You are obviously having good luck with the weather and making some fine photos.

I didn't know that! Being a fan of anything up there, I missed this historical fact. Thanks for mentioning it along with a great shot of the full moon.

Handheld? Against a support? or was it on a tripod?
