Monarch Butterfly Nature Preserve

Found myself at the Monarch Butterfly Nature Preserve in Santa Cruz.

100,000 Monarchs spend the winter in eucalyptus trees protected from the
winter winds. They arrive in mid October and stay till March.

In the spring and summer, the monarchs live in valleys west of the Rockies,
living on only the California Milkweed plant.

Also found some Chrysalis at a demo area for Monarchs.

Here is a pic of the Monarch catepillar on its favorite plant

Neat composite. I like the shot of the larva too.

simply stunning. my favourite shot is the image in the centre of the montage, with
so many butterflies resting in the branch. great work!
