The Smoky Super Blue Moon

Rising behind the Lick Observatories on Mount Hamilton.

"Super" because it is on the closest approach to Earth and so appears larger than usual.

"Blue" because it is the second full moon of the month.

At the Sunnyvale Baylands as planned with The Photographer's Ephemeris website.

It was a very hot and smoky day.

a real scorcher...Lick offers a good anchor to the image...pity about your smoke, but it had an enriching effect on the moon's colour...V
