The Broken Chair

view map

From wikipedia:
"Broken Chair is a monumental sculpture in wood designed by Swiss artist Daniel Berset, and constructed by carpenter Louis Genève.[1] It is constructed of 5.5 tons of wood and is 12 metres (39 feet) high.[2]

It depicts a giant chair with a broken leg and stands across the street from the Palace of Nations, in Geneva.[3] It symbolises opposition to land mines and cluster bombs, and acts as a reminder to politicians and diplomats visiting Geneva"

At this moment, there was a real live protest against the actions of Pakistan.

Very cool shot. The people add scale to this gigantic sculpture.

a strong piece to grab attention and spur thought on land mine injuries and deaths...the sight of maimed survivors in Cambodia some years back was certainly harrowing..
