Visited my local hardware store, Orchard Supply Hardware, which is closing after 87 years.

Started as a successful Co-Op for the local fruit farmers in the Santa Clara valley.
But recent times have been harder and its parent company, Lowes decided to close all the stores.

I did get a half price deal on my very expensive furnace filter.

I couldn't bear to go there, been shopping there forever. Its a real loss and now it will be difficult to go to a huge store to pick up Gorilla Glue...I am angry that all of our neighborhood businesses have gone. I am always hearing that the rent is too high.

Sad to see Orchard Supply Hardware go. They opened a store near us a year or two ago, and have just close it.

it looks as if a few people found good deals here, and gobbled up the items...pity when the local stores fall victim to the times...it is always good to support them..

Local hardware stores have a folklore of their own. Sadly they are disappearing.
