Burrowed Owl

A rare find at the Sunnyvale Baylands.

I'm always looking at abandoned squirrel holes on the hillsides and found this full one with the owl inside.

I can see how this owl would use his hole to be invisible to predators. He blends in so well. Fabulous capture. V.

Well seen, the bright yellow of it's eye adds to the image.

A neat find and a fine shot. It just seems so odd that an owl would live in a hole in the ground.
