The morning started with the windshield wipers and headlights working as we drove up the peninsula to Tiburon.
As we drove closer to San Francisco, blue skies stated to appear through the clouds.
After finding our all day/night parking lot, we unloaded the car and did the short walk to the ferry port.
We met Olga and her friend Buddy at the port.
We caught the Angel Island ferry and did the ten minute crossing with views of the San Francisco skyline and of the Golden Gate Bridge before arriving to Ayala Cove.
After registering for the campsite, we hiked along the Perimeter road to the campsite.
We setup the tents in the sun with a bit of a breeze.
After lunch, Sherri, John and I walked back to Ayala Cove to meet Bill at the 13:00 ferry.
Bill came later after the courts excused him from jury duty for the rest of the day.
After Bill set up his tent, we proceeded to walk along the Perimeter Road around the island.
The Belladonna Lilies were in full bloom all around Fort McDowell. We spent some time exploring the ruins of the hospital at the old Fort.
As we approached Ayala Cove, we veered onto the North Ridge trail to hike to the top of Mount Livermore and enjoyed the views.
After arriving back to the campsite, we had dinner with very calm conditions. We saw the SF skyline and the Golden Gate Bridge light up as the sun set behind the Marin Headlands. Bill spotted the Full Moon rising beyond the hills of the island. The night remained calm and fog free.
The next morning, Sherri and Bill hiked back up to the top of Mount Livermore to enjoy the sunrise.
I just hiked up to the trail and traversed it in time to see the sunrise through the clouds.
We broke camp and took the ferry back to Tiburon with the thoughts of doing this again in the future.
