Racconigi Castle, located in the province of Cuneo in the vast plain halfway between Cuneo and Turin, is a ‘must’ on any tour of Savoy residences.
It was home to a side-branch of the Savoy dynasty, the Carignano, which came to the fore after Carlo Alberto’s ascent to the throne.
Racconigi Castle was the last of the delightful residences built in the surroundings of Turin during the Baroque period, and was regularly visited by the Savoy family up to the Second World War.
