Incredible game where we took it to the mighty Dutch on and off the pitch

Holland had never beaten Australia and the Oranje Army found themselves outnumbered on this chilly day in Porto Alegre

The way our little team - which no one gave a hope - took it to the Dutch brought a tear to my eye

They and their master coach Louis van Gaal were too good in the end. Two slips, two goals. That's the difference between the good and great at this level

But we sure gave them a game. We bowed out with our heads held high and gained a lot of respect from the football world, who had written us off before the tournament.

At least we won the cheering

The record will show that this was the worst performance by Australia at a World Cup but it sure as hell didn't feel like it!
