DeGraaf in Maverick Tournament

There's a great story behind this picture. I asked my friend DeGraaf Adams to fish with me in the Texas Tournament for Maverick/Hewes/Pathfinder boat owners in April 2003. It was in the Rockport/Port Aransas area of the middle Texas coast.

We poled around looking for some fish for the first hour or so. Then we anchored the boat and waded on a flat and proceeded to catch redfish on our fly rods for about four hours straight. We almost always had a fish hooked up, and finally left them biting! We could only weigh in our two biggest fish, and we won second place overall in the fly division. If they had counted total inches caught, we would have won by a mile, literally! We didn't count, but estimated that we caught about 30 reds that morning, all from the same spot, and all on fly!

DeGraaf is holding his limit of fish, including the two biggest we caught that day. The trusty Maverick is in the background showing off her shallow water ability.
