Tonight I went to another Christmas concert. This one was really a Christmas concert. My friend, Kathy, sings with the Heritage Signature Chorale. They sang more standard Christmas music in lively arrangements and then a Christmas Oratorio to show off their classical music talents.
On the way home I photographed the Lincoln Theater, "the crown jewel of what was known as 'Black Broadway'" in the first half of the 20th Century. Duke Elllington, Pearl Bailey, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong and others performed there. The theater closed in 1979 and re-opened restored to its original appearance in 1994. The neighborhood is also re-bounding economically. The concert was at the Foundry United Methodist Church not the Lincoln Theater.
