July 25, 2004

After a ride down the California Coast on Route 1 and encountering a lot of fog, we headed back to the city. On the way in via a different route we went past Twin Mountain and rode up for a view. The fog came and went. Using the 12mm again, we took this picture of us during a clear moment. More photos from today and two from last night are HERE.

Nikon D70 ,Nikkor 12-24mm f/4G ED-IF AF-S DX
1/320s f/11.0 at 12.0mm with SB-800 on balanced fill, with a diffusion dome, iso200 full exif

other sizes: small medium large original auto

Great photo...and, with that lens, you don't need such long arms to get it :^)

Elizabeth Glass26-Jul-2004 10:45
Oooh, nice wide angle shot. What the heck, why is it so cold there? It's July!!!
Linda Alstead26-Jul-2004 10:13
Fab Mark - I have a severe hankering for a wide angle lens now! Oh and DM......don't worry, you get your pics back in March!
Guest 26-Jul-2004 09:13
Nice shot Mark - now hold that camer higher and point it down a little - we can almost see down Jeanne's cleavage ;)) Actually joking aside that lens ROCKS!! I WANT one - just don't tell Jayne I said that that or even looking at it for that matter .. ditto JHR's cleavage {lol} That alone will earn me a spanking!! I do love the wide perspective and can feel myself getting down low with that baby (the lens in case anyone is wondering - shame on you!!) BUT Mark I was kind of lusting after either the Nikon or Sigma primes in the w-i-d-e catagory? Love to hear what you think of it and will have a good look at yor photos taken with it when I get a minute! BUT - nice shot there :))

I've been there too! But 'someone else' has the photos from that trip... :-(

Looks like a gin clear day if you ask me. I like the curly and straight roads into town.
Lou Giroud26-Jul-2004 07:44
Nice view up there, I will certainly have a look up there one day if I pass by. I like places where the ordinary people go.
CJ Morgan26-Jul-2004 07:05
Hey, I've been there. Well, not in the last few weeks. But still,
nice to know I've been some place where the famous people go.

Jeanne was cold but I felt like I was on the summit of Mt. Washington (NH) on a balmy summer day. Whatever the temperature was, it sure beats 107! Yikes! I'm trying to make good use of this lens, but really, it's wide!! This is an arms-length shot, not even straight arm. :-)
Jvan Photography26-Jul-2004 05:39
Very nice! You have jackets on!! Do you know how hot is was just 3 hours away from you today!!! 107!
Howdy 26-Jul-2004 05:20
Perfect day for photography. The entire Bay Area was great today. You can have the best camera and best lens but if you are not inspired by your surroundings then you are better off just leaving the camera in your bag.

As far as the comment about it being cold for July, remember what Mark Twain (Samuel Clemmons) said.

"The coldest Winter I ever spent was a Summer in San Francisco"

Truer words were never spoken.

Boy that lens is serving you quite well. I love the windblown look and the vista to the North. Excellent.
