March 8, 2004

Union Station, Washington, DC

There was a much better lighting situation a few moments earlier, but I missed it. And didn't have time to wait for the clouds to re-arrange themselves in my favor.

I like the blue and grey tones in this.

very nice, the statue reminds me of a figure head on a ship!

A few years back we were visiting DC and I remember this Union Station. We had dinner at the mexican restaurant that's located inside the station. Yummy food!
BTW, GREAT SHOT Mark!

Joy, you need to go to Robin's gallery if you want to see buildings in a new light! I'm taking my "lessons" from her. ;) Robin, yeah, deep blue is my favorite sky. What I missed were awesome dark clouds with the whole facsade (sp?) of the building bathed in morning sunlight. Very dramatic. It would have been a fairly straight forward, "here's a building shot" but the light would have "made" it. Thanks for the comments everyone. I hadn't thought of B&W. Hmmm.

I'm studying your architectual (sp?) images a great deal...this is probably my weakest point as a photographer. I think part of the problem is that when I look at a building, I don't "see" its potential the way you do Mark.

Great shot - could make a great B&W too (with extra contrast).

That's why I like buildings as subjects, they have all the time in the world, and stand perfectly still : ) I like the zigzag patterns and statue on the left, I think it would be extra special if you get it with a deep blue sky!

I could look at this stuff all day. I actually have books on architectural elements. Nice.

I like it. And I like the clouds just the way they are. :) An image with yet again a great angle.
