8th April (II)

DENTIST!

I forgot I took this photo as well as my original PAD for today ( http://www.pbase.com/image/27738490 ). I think I prefer this one.

Had a filling today. I ]so wish I'd taken my camera, I bottled it this time - would have made a great PAD! Next time.

Why can't a filling go smoothly for me?! I sat in the chair and had an injection my gums which I hardly felt, great so far......or so I thought. Then the dentist came at me with the drill, in it went and then - I pretty much left the seat and frightened the dentist to death! It would seem that the anesthetic hadn't quite hit the spot. So, he gave me a few more shots. While I was waiting for that anesthetic to take hold I suddenly felt faint. I told the dentist and he quickly let the seat back down to enable bloodflow to the head. I soon felt ok again although if he hadn't lowered the seat back I would have passed out. Had a possible bad reaction to the anesthetic said he. Back came the drill again! This time it was painless...........until the last bit of drilling and then BAM! pain-central! My dentist was rather taken aback and said 'you must be resistant to anesthetic - I gave you enough to put a small elephant to sleep!' I seem to remember that I had to have extra anesthetic last time I had some dentristry done.

I'm typing this 2 hours after the filling and my face is still completely numb. I've been dribbling and spilling drinks since I got home!

So I thought I'd take a photograph to reflect my time at the dentist. Not the most flattering of self-portraits but there you go.

Ouch! Perfect communication of the joy of going to the dentist !

Even at thumbnails sisze this said "TOOTHACHE!!!" Sorry you had such a time.. I have the exact same kind of experience everytime I have anything dental done. I always require twice as much anesthetic as the average person. And visiting a new dentist is awful because they don't believe you and just think you're being a wimp. Hope you feel better quickly.

I shouldn't laugh because I know how much that stuff can hurt, but that expression is just so good. Excellent image! Reminds me of something you might see in one of those stock art collections of people with different expressions :)
