2nd March

Are you sitting comfortabley? - Then I'll begin:

I had to take a trip to the local glaziers this afternoon to drop off a catflap to be fitted to a pane of glass so that our beloved cat, Smudge, can have the freedom to come and go as she pleases without making a lot of noise first thing in the morning to be let out. It took me half an hour to make the 5 minute trip due to me getting lost (that's another story all together). Suffice to say that I lay the blame fairly and squarely on my girlfriend's brilliantly vague directions.

Once I'd dropped off the catflap, I walked out out of the glaziers workshop and was aware of bright flashing lights coming from the ajoining buiding. I looked inside and there was a young man welding a large sheet of mesh to some framework or other whilst singing loudly to the radio. I immediately thought of today's PAD and new I had to ask permission to take his photograph.

I'd never asked anyone if they'd mind me taking their photograph before but thought to myself that I'd better get used to it if I want to take interesting photographs. Once asked he was only too happy to be photographed and seemed pleased with the result when I showed him the shot on the screen of my camera. I only had chance to take 2 shots as in that time he'd finished that job.

This is really interesting with the blue light from the welder.

Very good image!

I've only had the guts to ask a stranger for permission to take their image once... and only after a lot of goading on by my hubby. I've missed a lot of shots I wanted because of being afraid to approach someone and afraid to take the shot without asking. That's hard for me... but you are right... if you, we, don't learn to do it, we'll miss some good photo ops.

This - this is awesome. The shapes alone are dynamic, and the hint of details makes one want to look closer. Then the realization of what it is. So cool.

Nice shot! Catflaps...glaziers...there have been discussions of such things in our household, recently. One of my friends had a catflap built in to the bricks of the extension she had built! It looks OK, actually!
