I was woken by my fiance pinching and punching me in the first of the month tradition. I always forget to do it first!
Later, whilst she was getting ready for work, she shouted from another room to tell me that it was frosty out and a mist was forming over some distant fields. I decided to get up early and jump on my bike to see what shots I could get. Now this is only the second time in a year that I have ventured out on my bike, the last time being a couple of days ago. I soon found out the damage done on that previous outing when I sat on the saddle. It would seem that I'm a little saddle sore.
Nevertheless, I rode on out into the low sunlight and eventually on to my hometown's main road out of the town. As I was cycling along the cycle path alongside the road I noticed corn growing to my left and it looked beautiful backlit by the morning sun. I stopped my bike and lent it up against a nearby lamp post. I ventured down a slope to the corn. It was then that I spotted the thistle. I like the frost on the stem leading up to the head of the thistle. I quickly took the shot as I didn't want to leave my bike unattended for too long.
I climbed up the slope to find a police car, lights flashing pulled up alongside the path next to my bike. A police woman was staring at my bike. She said 'I stopped because that bike looked too good to be left unattended and not locked. Someone would probably like to steal it. Been taking photographs I see' (rather obvious what with the camera in my hand!).' I felt rather embarressed and explained I still had it in my sight whilst taking photographs and that I was only a minute. It was then that my fiance drove past, looking at me with a puzzled expression on her face. I rang her and explained.
