I got up early today as we had snow yesterday (very unusual in south west UK). I decided to pump up the tyres on my mountain bike which hasn't seen the light of day for over a year and go to the local lakegrounds to see what photographs I could capture. Now, going out on your bicycle in this weather may seem stupid, and it probably is, but the tyres gripped fairly well and my only hairy moment was when I free wheeled down a particularly icy hill using my feet as stabilisers!
I spotted a bunch of dafodils near to the lake. Many of them looked very sorry for themselves hanging their heavy heads due to the weight of snow perched on top of them. As the early morning sun bathed this dafodil in it's warm rays the snow started to melt. This flower looks as though it would spring back upright and open it's petals once the ice had melted from it's weary head.
