COVID: Year #5 - Post Pandemic

The COVID 19 Pandemic started in China in late 2019.
It was first noticed in the USA in early 2020.
March 11. 2020 the WHO declared COVID as a world pandemic.

2020 and 2021 were years from hell with severe illnesses, deaths, lockdowns, and a total disruption of society. For most of 2022 COVID remained high on the world radar. Over 1 Million Americans died from the virus. No one had even anticipated that the USA would be the most effected COVID country on earth.

************************************

May 5, 2023, the WHO finally declared the pandemic over. At the same time, they also warned that COVID will continue to be negatively felt for years into the future. They said that we can't just forget about it. The virus remains and still causes great harm to people worldwide. Anyone, who is reading this in 2024, has lived through it all.

Now, here we are in 2024. The world has been changed. Nevertheless, right or wrong, most humans are once again living as if COVID no longer exists. More and more people are also being infected and reinfected each day. At the same time, COVID is still yet not fully understood. With the help of human behavior, it continues to mutate. Long COVID has become a relatively silent condition that many are now carrying forward from the disease. The elderly and immune compromised continue to die.

What will happen in this 5th year of COVID being part of our lives??? Only time will tell. As much as we may wish it to be, life really has NOT gone back to how as it was back in 2019. The only thing that is sure at this time is that COVID is here to stay & it is not a benign disease. Getting COVID is like playing Russian Roulette. Some will remain lucky. Some won't.
