Closely related to butterflies, moths have subtle differences in their appearances. At rest, most species of moths hold their wings either horizontally to their body or else hugged around the abdomen. Their wings are very rarely held vertically together above the body as with butterflies. Another notable difference is that moths have a thicker body and thicker, feathery antennae in the males. Most moths are also nocturnal.
