Daddy Is Continuing to Build

He's carrying a stick for the nest this time.

This is a continuation of the project he was working on last week http://www.pbase.com/britestar/image/75023045

Many of the shots in the March Gallery will be from my 4 day new Canon 300mm f/2.8 lens. I got the new lens to be able to reach Big Bertha's basic focal length without Bertha's extreme weight. At this point, I am using the f/2.8 mainly with a 2X extender- giving the lens a 600mm reach.

The tripod plate has not arrived for the new lens. So all current shots with it are hand held. Since the 300mm f/2.8 lens is not light weight, I am so tickled that I can actually hand hold it and get pretty good shots. Being a "girly girl", I originally had some concerns about that. Yesterday's PAD was from the same lens also being hand held.

I really like this new lens so far and have named her "Little Baby" because she is a pint size version of Big Bertha.

Beautiful shot with a tough sky to deal with. A very impressive lens, and I gather the IS is allowing you to hand hold it fine. Vote

Wonderful, of course. And handheld at 300mm x 2 makes it even more impressive.
