NOTE 2008: This shot was taken years BEFORE the Zoo decided to move the Red Pandas from a very large, more natural, open air habitat
to a much smaller pen that is now totally behind glass.
How sad for the Pandas.

The Red Panda's more natural "home" was eliminated to build a new "short cut" so zoo human visitors no longer have to walk as far between animals. I personally would have preferred that the animals still lived in an open air, less "caged" environment. I have no trouble with walking, but I do have trouble with seeing animals in "fish bowl" housing.

The day that I took this shot, the Pandas had a fair amount of freedom. It was once a pleasure to spend hours just watching them play out in the sunshine.
