Severe storms and tornadoes struck the Kansas City metro area on the evening of Saturday, June 13, 2026, causing significant damage and widespread power outages.

Storm impacts
Winds: 70–80 mph gusts were reported in multiple Kansas City metro cities, including Kansas City, Missouri; Kansas City, Kansas; Liberty, MO; Pleasant Valley, MO, and other surrounding communities. Our neighborhood was one, and there is widespread damage.
Tornadoes: The National Weather Service confirmed at least two tornadoes — one near downtown Kansas City around 8:45 p.m. and another near Worlds of Fun in Clay County.
Pleasant Valley: Police reported a tree falling on a power line near Oak Street between Brookside and South Elm Streets.
Liberty: Multiple reports of downed trees and power lines in downtown Liberty.
Other areas: Damage included downed trees, power lines, and structural impacts in various neighborhoods. Residents across the metro shared images of crushed vehicles, uprooted trees, downed utility poles, damaged roofs and siding
Power outages
The storms caused tens of thousands of power outages across the metro area, with some neighborhoods experiencing extended outages due to downed lines and transformers FOX 4. Ours was one.
Authorities are urging caution near downed power lines and debris.
