The End of Summer/Fall 11-30-25

"Smitten Pink" Calibrachoa

The last day of November and the last of the Summertime flowers

Today the high was 31 degrees.
The low last night was 18 degrees.
Yet 5 different pots of my annuals are still hanging on outside on our deck.

The area's hard killing freeze - that marked the end of the growing season - was October 30th.
These plants have remained outside uncovered since then but just wouldn't give up no matter what the weather, including light snow yesterday. Until 3 days ago, there were 14 different varieties of Petunias, Calibrachoa, and even Zinnias. Today, there are only 5. But with this cold, "any" is absolutely amazing. It's been bitter cold for 3 full days with tempts not reaching freezing. I've never seen anything like this before.

Today is a goodbye to the last of the Summer flowers growing outdoors:
on the day before the first day of Meteorologist Winter.
I can see the effect of ice crystals in the molecules of the flower on the left.
So, this must now, REALLY finally be goodbye for 2025.

What a nice surprise that they stuck around so long. Something to look forward to for the Spring.
