I'm one of those old-fashioned girls who believes first Halloween, then Thanksgiving, and then Christmas. But this Schlumbergera started to bloom a couple of days ago when the outdoors tempts dropped to Christmastime lows around 20F.
With the red and white striped pot, it's hard to see this as anything but a "Christmas" Cactus. However, the leaf shape says "Thanksgiving Cactus", which many Schlumbergera, sold in the US, really are. This one is about 3 years old but is blooming earlier this year than ever before. I also have a lot of buds on several of my others. And the cycle of life continues.
