🌧️ Kansas City was hit hard by flash flooding on Friday, July 25th, with torrential rain triggering at least 10 water rescues across the metro area2. Some neighborhoods saw over 7 inches of rain in just six hours, and the National Weather Service issued multiple Flash Flood Warnings throughout the day.
🚗 Roads like I-435 near 23rd Street and parts of Belton were submerged, forcing closures and stranding vehicles. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and emergency crews were able to get everyone to safety.
🌊 Officials urged residents to avoid low-lying areas and follow the mantra: “Turn around, don’t drown.” Even six inches of moving water can knock a person off their feet, and one foot can sweep a car away.
