May’s Arrival
Shadows fade, their hold undone, Spring stands strong where light has won. No winter’s grasp, no cold delay, Just crisp renewal, bold as day.
Against the dark, two flowers gleam, Pure and sharp, a glowing dream. Not soft nor fleeting, firm they stay, White stars to mark the strength of May.
Green anchors them, bright and free, Holding life in clarity. May Day rises, full and true— Light takes root, the world anew.

May Day has its roots in astronomy. Traditionally, it is the halfway point between the spring equinox and the summer solstice! In ancient times, this was one of the Celtic cross-quarter days, which marked the midway points between the (four) solstices and equinoxes of the year.
As with many early holidays, May Day was rooted in agriculture. Springtime festivities filled with song and dance celebrated the sown fields starting to sprout.
