After bringing 75% of my house plants into the main living areas of our home from the Solar Room, we watched the game on TV from the warmth of our family room.

The Solar Room plants have temporarily been put into the kitchen, dining room, living room, family room, & foyer of the main wing, and even in the bathtubs in our bedroom wing. Because we ran out of room elsewhere, about 25% of my houseplants had to be left in the Solar Room to try to survive the cold. Many of the larger plants are decades old. We covered some of those with blankets like we do with tender vegetation for early Fall outdoor frosts. I hope they fair as well under the next few days conditions... Most are uncovered; plus, they can't be close enough to the heaters. Sadly, the prognosis is not good.

Meanwhile, the game day forecast - in the image above - was off: both at kick off and at the end of the game. It was minus -4 degrees Fahrenheit at kickoff & minus -9 F degrees at game's end. The wind picked up during the game, also lowering the wind chill. These were the coldest temperatures ever for a game at Arrowhead Stadium, and the 4th coldest tempts for any game in NFL history: https://apnews.com/article/chiefs-dolphins-bills-steelers-nfl-playoffs-cold-snow-weather-b49dba3f4fdeeae8f023a7408b53296e
Temperatures are still dropping outside, with Sunday predicted to be notably colder than even Saturday. It could be minus -15 F (with a wind chill close to minus-40) by morning. My poor house plants!!! The Solar Room is too large with too high of ceilings and far too much glass to keep that kind of cold at bay, even with multiple space heaters. Although it's supposed to warm up a little by Tuesday or Wednesday, tempts will again return to below zero next weekend. If history is any indication, I will lose a lot of houseplants during this current artic blast. How sad.

The Kansas City Chiefs won the game today. They will now continue on in the playoffs. Hopefully, the next game will be televised nationwide on Network TV & not just on Peacock. We got to watch tonight because our local station had a deal with Peacock to show it to NBC local viewers in Kansas City and Miami. Depending on who else wins this weekend, the next playoff game may or may not be at home. It would be disappointing to miss future games. We pay enough for TV services already without adding still another streaming service for football.
If paid streaming becomes the future for all games: https://www.masslive.com/patriots/2024/01/why-isnt-chiefs-vs-dolphins-on-tv-live-stream-how-to-watch-peacock-exclusive-nfl-playoff-game.html I guess we won't be watching live TV football anymore. Not unless we're at a sports bar. I sure haven't been thrilled with Amazon Prime at home...

Meanwhile, at the moment, the fate of my cold houseplants is really more important to me.
