I can hardly believe that this petunia-relative is still alive; let alone in full bloom.
Our first killing, hard freeze was over 3 weeks ago. It was an early hard freeze, and we had 3 straight nights of tempts in the 20's when it happened. That killed off most of my annuals, with the exception of 7 plants that mysteriously seemed untouched. Five were calibrachoa and two were petunias. Very strange to see them survive when plants that normally tolerate colder tempts didn't.
Under normal circumstances, I would have brought these tough survivors indoors to Winter over. They earned the chance to go on living. However, after having a major battle with bud worms (that like to winter over in the soil in a potted plant), I couldn't take a risk that these plants might have them. Bud Worms favor Petunias and Geraniums. So, the plants (that miraculously have survived the killing freezes in October) will be left outside until constant Winter weather finally gets them.
Meanwhile, they've been so pretty to still look at and are still going strong. If all goes well, I will probably plant more of these (new ones) next Spring. I highly recommend the variety.
