Since I'm not a morning person, having one less hour of daylight in the evening really affects me. I wish the country would stick to Daylight Saving Time as "Standard" time all year round. Since the weather isn't super cold yet, the dogs and I could still be continuing to spend time in the late afternoon out on the deck. But now, late afternoon is evening... And soon, it will be nighttime. Sunset BEFORE 5PM is ridiculous!!! But that's what we're looking at as we head into December.
Daylight saving time was first enacted by the federal government during World War I as a way to conserve coal.
A switch to year-round daylight saving time would require a change to federal law.
(And with the way the US government lately can't seem to have bipartisan agreement on much of anything, I doubt that will happen in the foreseeable future.)
Same here, and afternoon walks are taken earlier in the forest because darkness falls by 4:30 in the trees. This is a great shot to accompany your text. V
