Unusual Bee 8-31-23

I'm guessing it is some sort of ground bee.
Maybe a "Leaf Cutter"? I have no idea.

Just what I need is something else to eat holes in my potted plants. NOT!!!
However, at least this is a productive pollinator.
The above bee is larger than a carpenter bee (a big bee),
but it has an elongated body and short wings.

So far, I haven't seen any notable damage by it.
But who can tell for sure with all the ugly and quite extensive damage that the budworms and Japanese beetles have done in the month of August.

other sizes: small medium original auto
