"Big Bertha" 6-24-23

She's seventeen years old already, but I love her as much as the day I decided that I could actually handle a 13 pound+ lens and first got her. Over the years this has been one of my most used lenses, I've traveled the USA with her. And her tripod.

However, now (many moons later) I do wish she was lighter in weight. Unfortunately, I can't afford to upgrade to the newer, much lighter 600mm DSLR Canon lens, not while Canon is gradually moving from DSLR's to mirrorless bodies & the future of DSLR bodies is uncertain.

Very impressive long lens.

This one's too big for me too now. Its not that it is getting heavier, I'm just getting weaker. I just traded my big lens in for much lighter 500 mm pf lens too and find it easy to hand-hold.

That is some lens alright. Can't imagine traveling with it though. I invested in a Nikon 500mm pf lens a while back that weighs 3.2 pounds and can shoot it hand held for a long time before I get tired.
