I learned my love of houseplants from my grandma. When I think of her, I think of geraniums. She always grew geraniums and succulents on every one of her windowsills. When I was about 12, she gave me one of her succulents to grow myself. That was all it took to get me hooked on growing potted plants. Later, when she moved to Florida, she gave most all of her houseplants, rather than take them with her during the move. Those plants became very special to me. They were a symbol of family and of love.
The geranium above is over a dozen years old. I forget how much older it actually is. Although not one from my grandmother, it's been in our home for a long, long time. Currently, the weather outdoors here is unseasonably cold. The high is in the low 30's & down to close to 20 degrees Fahrenheit overnight. Meanwhile, inside our home remains filled with the warmth of growing live flowers.
Thank you, Grandma!!!
