Hibiscus
"Palm Springs" has large, vivid 6-8" yellow and red flowers that jump out at you from across a yard. It is as prolific and reliable as its parents, Gerald Derr and The Path. Released by HVH 2006.

It has survived the coldest night inside the Solar Room so far (which hovered close to 40) and is even still blooming. The flower is smaller and a different color than in Summertime. Still, the plant remains a survivor of this recent cold and cloudy snap. Hibiscuses do poorly under 50 degrees and will die if the temoera6ures drop below 40. Our Solar Room is unheated and relies on the sun to be able to support tropical plants.
Having tropical flowers at this time of year is our "vacation". We still won't be traveling anywhere in 2022; so, enjoying the flowers at home will have to do.
