Diamond

Model for a Hallmark Greeting Card

I always loved Diamond dearly, but I loved my mom even more. When my mom lost her beloved Princess, I let Diamond (at two years old) go live with her. Diamond was a true lap dog and cuddlier to the max. She was exactly what my mom needed. Diamond helped to mend my mom's broken heart and went on to become her soul mate. Although Diamond was no longer living with me, I still got to see my girl (a 9th generation homebred) regularly. Plus, I was also able to continue using her for modeling assignments whenever a Chihuahua model with her "look" was needed. Everyone was happy. Diamond absolutely adored my mom. And my mom doted on her. My letting my mom have Diamond to love was one of the best things I've ever done.

At the very end of Diamond's life as a very elderly dog, Diamond came back home to me because I could give her the kind of medical care she needed. My mom couldn't. Even after Diamond was back with me, my mom still got to see her girl almost daily. We made sure to that. This arrangement prolonged Diamond's life for over another year. It also meant that my mom never saw the bad side of the last year; while retaining joy of the special bond that my mom had formed with this very pretty, little girl.

Although Diamond had lived 16 of her 19 years with my mom (and was my mom's "heart dog"), Diamond was always still mine, too. We both loved her.
