Undercount

Many experts say that this US COVID death rate has been undercounted.

From last month: “Nationwide, nearly 1 million more people have died in 2020 and 2021 than in normal, pre-pandemic years, but about 800,000 deaths have been officially attributed to COVID-19, according to the CDC data. A majority of those additional 195,000 deaths are unidentified COVID-19 cases, public health experts have long suggested, pointing to the unusual increase in deaths from natural causes.

“An investigation by Documenting COVID-19, the USA TODAY Network and experts reveals why so many deaths have gone uncounted: After overwhelming the nation’s health care system, the coronavirus evaded its antiquated, decentralized system of investigating and recording deaths. Short-staffed, undertrained and overworked coroners and medical examiners took families at their word when they called to report the death of a relative at home. Coroners and medical examiners didn’t review medical histories or order tests to look for COVID-19. They and some physicians attributed deaths to inaccurate and nonspecific causes that are meaningless to pathologists. In some cases, stringent rules for attributing a death to COVID-19 created obstacles for relatives of the deceased and contradicted CDC guidance. A notable percentage of relatives have asked for COVID to Not be on the death certificate. In smaller communities, that has been possible.”

If this is all really true, then America has actually surpassed 1 Million COVID deaths. But no matter what the actual death count, far too many Americans continue to refuse to get vaccinated or to practice any mitigation practices to help stop a needless loss of precious human lives. That is a great American tragedy.

Highest in the World

“‘A terrible tragedy’: US passes 8(50),000 Covid deaths – Highest in the World”
“Figure deemed doubly heartbreaking amid widespread availability of vaccines…”

These quotes from an article are 1 month old and were made with the sad milestone of the US hitting 800,000 COVID deaths. Yet the same now is just as true in this first month of the new year as the US reaches the even more horrifying 850,000 SARS-CoV -2 Milestone. In just one month’s time, at least 50, 000 MORE Americans have lost their lives to COVID-19. That is a whole lot of mothers and fathers, sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, grandparents and treasured friends.

Also written one month ago, the following article about American values is very true and very timely as we hit another devastating US COVID Milestone: https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2021/12/800000-covid-19-deaths-pandemic-what-america-values/621040/

Statistically, one month ago almost to the day (with 50, 000 fewer confirmed US COVID deaths than today), OVER “1 of Every 100 Older Americans Had Perished” from COVID-19” New York Times

Again, read the Atlantic article linked above. We have a true problem with our society.

Frightening

“Metro morgues face capacity issues during Covid-19 outbreak…
“MISSION, Kan. (AP/KCTV5) — Nursing homes are facing COVID-19 outbreak, schools are closing and hospitals in the Kansas City area
are seeing so many deaths that they are raising alarms about morgue capacity.”

These news headlines and the full article say that the heart break and misery of COVID continues. Plus, it may actually even be worse in some areas of the US. Hospitals across the US are now rationing care because they can no longer handle the overload from increasing coronavirus cases. This means that COVID is now killing more than those with the virus.

This Gallery

I HATE doing this gallery. The pandemic is not improving. Instead, COVID just goes on and on and on. So many people all over the world keep dying from this horrible disease. There is so much sadness and so much misery. At this time, there is no end in sight.

There once was a time, early on, when I truly believed that the USA would never see COVID statistics of infections or anything else (let alone deaths) come anywhere close to even 10, 000 in the USA. The idea of American infections in the multi, multi-Millions & American deaths nearing the 1 Million mark was totally unimageable. Obviously, I have been proven very wrong in thinking this would be a very short gallery. I so want to see an actual end to the gallery; an ending in which also ends all the horror ends for our country and for our world. I want to see a Milestone of “No more lives lost to or because of COVID.”
