45 MILLION Confirmed US COVID Cases (10-18-21)

John Hopkins Resource Center (10/18/2021)
Despite US COVID cases being down from what they were during the September wave, the USA has passed still another milestone of over 45 Million Cases of COVID-19 with 726, 201 Americans dead from the disease.

One Million NEW US cases of COVID-19 in just 12 days means the pandemic is not over.
26 Thousand NEW US deaths from COVID-19 in just 17 days means the pandemic is not over.

Today Colin Powell, the first Black US secretary of state whose leadership in several Republican administrations helped shape American foreign policy in the last years of the 20th century and the early years of the 21st, has died from complications from Covid-19, his family said on Facebook. He was 84; plus immune compromised.

As long as people refuse to get vaccinated and carry the virus, the more the vulnerable (including some of those who do everything right themselves) are at risk of a bad outcome.

Get vaccinated to protect yourself. Long COVID is no fun. Death is even worse. Get vaccinated to protect others. The Delta variant spreads very easily among the unvaccinated who may then pass it on to those with weaker immune systems. The weakest link in the fight to control COVID are the unvaccinated. Some will get very ill themselves. And maybe die. Many will kill innocents who do not have an immune system strong enough to fight off the virus.

Coronavirus cases are going down in some parts of the country but there is far too much "human wood" for COVID-19 to burn, warns Michael Osterholm, the Director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy. The elderly are not the only ones negatively effected. COVID can be severe and become deadly in all age groups. There are now over 140,000 kids in this country who have been orphaned, or whose sole caregiver has died, because of COVID-19. Vaccination of the unvaccinated can lessen future numbers. The fewer the cases of COVID, the fewer people will die.

45 Million cases of COVID in the US (and all the accompanying deaths) didn't have to be. The unvaccinated (who can safely get vaccinated & have good vaccines available to them) are the main thing that is keeping the COVID (and COVID death) numbers rising in the USA.
