During a wind storm last night, our next door neighbor lost at least 4 large trees growing along the property line. It could have been 5. But with all the tangled branches, it's difficult to really tell how many trees were uprooted. The neighbors' side of the property line starts where the grass is left uncut. These neighbors have some sort of "natural" thing going on... These are the folks that feed the wild deer. Parts of the downed trees fell into our yard (not in this photo). So we'll have to see what the neighbors do about "clean up" before we take any action to remove the debris in our yard. Most of the problem is on the tree owners' side of the property line.
Luckily (knock on wood), we had no damage at all to our trees during that severe weather event. However, it is now predicted that Mother Nature will be putting on a repeat severe (with straight line winds) weather event on Friday. That is unnerving. These kind of wind events can be strong enough to shift a house off its foundation. (Happened to a different neighbor).
Meanwhile, at the same time, we've also been experiencing a prolonged, miserable & dangerous heat wave. It's currently still 93 degrees at close to 11 PM. Tomorrow will be HOT (in the red alert range) again. And so will the next day, etc.
Although they have never been very pretty, I'm somewhat sad to see the loss of these trees. They have worked as a nice backdrop for some of my "at home" images like this one https://pbase.com/britestar/image/171246533
