Wednesday US COVID News
“A new daily death record offers a reminder: Even with a vaccine, don’t let your guard down. While the start of the U.S. mass vaccination campaign this week has brought desperately needed hope, health experts warned on Wednesday that it’s far too soon to abandon common-sense precautions that can halt the spread of the virus. Their warning came the same day the country set another single-day record for deaths. Officials across the United States on Wednesday reported the highest daily number for new coronavirus since the pandemic began, as well as the most deaths in a single day.
New infections were put at 244,365, and deaths at 3,607 — nearly 500 more than the record set only a week ago.” NY Times
“Nearly 1,000 Missourians and hundreds of Kansans, if not more, have been vaccinated against COVID-19 three days into a massive inoculation campaign that will last months. The vaccinations so far have centered exclusively on frontline healthcare workers. But they will quickly expand in the coming weeks to include tens of thousands of nursing home residents and hospital employees in both states.” Kansas City Star

This pair of love birds “cheep out” the tune of “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” as they wave their wings and nod their little heads. A bit of Holiday Cheer. In the shadow of the dismal pandemic statistics, we all need to have some good thoughts to hang on to.
