and the day isn't even over yet

Wednesday US COVID News
RECORDS BROKEN
“After weeks of surging infections and rising levels of virus hospitalizations,
the United States recorded more than 3,000 covid-19 deaths in a single day,
a pandemic record. The new death record, as well as a new high of more than 106,000 covid-19 patients in hospitals, are grim reminders of the pandemic’s devastating toll.” The Washington Post
SCARY STUFF
“Trump says it's 'terrific' so many Americans have caught the coronavirus.
Trump told reporters this week: ‘You develop immunity over a period of time. And I hear we're close to 15%, I'm hearing that, and that's terrific, that's a very powerful vaccine in itself’.” This is a comment that appeared to back the concept of herd immunity. Herd immunity has been largely discredited as a strategy for tackling the virus because to achieve it in a country as large as the United States would risk millions of deaths.”
Business Insider
LOCALLY
“In the University of Kansas Health System, one hospital has run out of staff. Another has 152 frontline workers are out with COVID-19. On top of that, hospitals are bracing for another potential surge in patients exposed over Thanksgiving.” KMBC News

I have nothing to add;
Other than that “Safer-at-Home” seems to be the best option at this time for those who still are free from COVID.
Herd immunity is NOT the way to handle a pandemic and keep people alive. People like you and me.
My image today is more symbolic than "pretty".
