The weather gods smiled on our town today. Although windy, we experienced a beautiful 85 degree, October day. Unfortunately, it looks like this REALLY will be the very last warm weather day of the season. Tomorrow’s high is supposed to be almost 45 degrees colder than today; with the cold weather expected to get and then stay even colder.
Therefore, I spent several hours outside today. To my surprise, bees and insects seemed to return for one day to take advantage of the unseasonal warmth. Wearing a bright green t-shirt, I also seemed to be an object for many of them mistaking my shirt for “greenery”. Everything from bees to beetles to garden spiders took a turn at checking my shirt out.
Although I didn’t see any deer today, at least 2 of the groundhogs are still around. Now rolly poly, they spent hours just languishing in the sun before finally settling into last minute grazing to prepare for hibernation in the very near future. When the groundhogs are gone, I'll know for sure that cold weather is here to stay.
