Last Gasp of Warm Weather 2020

The weather gods smiled on our town today. Although windy, we experienced a beautiful 85 degree, October day. Unfortunately, it looks like this REALLY will be the very last warm weather day of the season. Tomorrow’s high is supposed to be almost 45 degrees colder than today; with the cold weather expected to get and then stay even colder.

Therefore, I spent several hours outside today. To my surprise, bees and insects seemed to return for one day to take advantage of the unseasonal warmth. Wearing a bright green t-shirt, I also seemed to be an object for many of them mistaking my shirt for “greenery”. Everything from bees to beetles to garden spiders took a turn at checking my shirt out.

Although I didn’t see any deer today, at least 2 of the groundhogs are still around. Now rolly poly, they spent hours just languishing in the sun before finally settling into last minute grazing to prepare for hibernation in the very near future. When the groundhogs are gone, I'll know for sure that cold weather is here to stay.

A gorgeous closeup of this flower and visitor, Liz. Our numbers hit 26,000 new cases a couple of days ago! But 73,000 for you is just crazy!! V

We have a relative living in the US. A very fit mid 30's mother of 3 and after 3 months is battling the effects of corona virus still. Unable to regain her fitness ( she works in a gym ) feels lethargic, breathing issues and coughing. Another relation has in-laws who are the same. I wonder if the stats for those who have passed away with related ongoing issues have been counted in those stats...I doubt it.
