One Final Blast 2020

of Summer Color

Zinnias and Marigolds

******************

There was a 25 degree drop in high temperatures between today and yesterday. Nevertheless, the day still turned out to be sunny. Before tonight’s frost (with a low near 32 degrees), I shot what may be my last outdoor flower photo of the season.

Although I brought all my tropical house plants back indoors with the only other frost of the season (back on October 1st), I left my more hardy herbs outside. For those couple of hours of super cold, I had covered the herbs with a large quilt. They were good to go for the next two weeks outside. Today, however, I had to finally also bring the herbs back into the Solar Room. Tonight’s cold may be a killing frost. Guess I’ll know more about that tomorrow when I see what happened overnight tonight to the few remaining plants left on the deck. Outdoors photo opts are quickly disappearing.

Thursday US COVID News

“Fauci blasts herd immunity proposal embraced by White House as 'total nonsense'… ’if you talk to anybody who has any experience in epidemiology and infectious diseases, they will tell you that that is risky, and you'll wind up with many more infections of vulnerable people, which will lead to hospitalizations and deaths.'” The Hill

“Meanwhile, Trump health official meets with doctors pushing herd immunity.” The Hill

“US coronavirus: 21 states hit their peak 7-day average of new Covid-19 cases. Much of the US continues to report an upward trend in coronavirus cases, with 59,494 new cases reported nationwide on Wednesday alone, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.” CNN

"This is the time when we could be entering one of the worst periods of our epidemic and one of our worst periods in modern American public health," said Dr. Peter Hotez, professor and dean of tropical medicine at the Baylor College of Medicine. "I'm very worried for the nation." CNN

Love the light and cheery scene. A stark contrast to the depressing narrative about Covid.
