If you’re not careful...

you will get it.

In this case, the “it” was fresh stain off the fence…

Update: May 10, 2020, 00:36 GMT
USA
1,347,309 confirmed cases of COVID-19
80,037 American Deaths

Human Note to the Statistics : “Roy”, from the renowned Siegfried & Roy, passed away yesterday after a battle with COVID-19. He is just one of many famous & very talented individuals whose lives have been claimed by this insidious disease during just the past 2 months. As said yesterday, coronavirus doesn’t care who you are. If it has the chance, it will find you & can take your life. Social isolation & stay-at-home orders were originally implemented to slow & even prevent this. Even so, America is reopening against medical and scientific cautions.

At the time, I didn’t realize that my husband had allowed Chile out on our deck this morning while he applied a coat of stain to the wood. Because she wasn’t near him with the open can of stain, he felt she was “safe”. However now, Chile is covered with redwood stain: from a large spot on her head, smaller spots near her one eye, and continuing to a streak down her muzzle to the leather of her nose. It won't wash out. Fortunately, this only looks odd & won’t harm her. So things could have been a lot worse. Nevertheless, the moral is that if you want to totally avoid problems, you need to remain alert and err on the side of caution.

The dogs should not have gone outside until the wet stain was dried. There should have been a stay-in-the-house order to protect them from danger. Unfortunately, hindsight doesn’t help. The damage has been done. You can't go back in time. This is something for all of us to remember as human Stay-at-Home orders are being relaxed.

Side Note: I had originally planned to upload a photo today from last night’s record setting May freeze. That was also notable. Nevertheless, the above photo, showing the results of what can happen if you “let your guard down”, is IMO more timely & relevant to this gallery.

Poor baby. But it did kind of make me smile knowing how they do get into things they shouldn't. V.

We stained our new fence this week, and poor Baillie had to be locked up, he was not impressed!

Words I wish more people would pay attention to. I think that color looks nice on Chile, though.

Liz, have you thought about running for President...you could do with someone who can figure out the obvious and own up to their mistakes ? Actually that colour is very complimentary...thank heavens you didn't choose blue of green 😊. V

A super shot despite the incriminating evidence.

Oh oh! Glad to hear that Chile is okay, but your warning is well taken.
Can we assume that someone is in the doghouse? ;)

Wise words, Liz, and your photo is a great illustration of what happens when, as you say, we let our guard down. And yes, so many, many well known people have passed away from this dreadful virus, including John Prine, one my musical heroes. V
