Being uploaded to Pbase on March 18th, 2020, this image is now a memory of what "normal" life was once like; not that long ago.
Because the Garden Stores undoubtedly won't be open for business as normal this Spring, I just now ordered some Marigold seeds by mail. The end of March is a late start for planting seeds for starter plants. January would have been preferable. However, trying to keep life as normal as possible, I wanted to at least try to have some annual flowers in the planter boxes to enjoy this Summer. Just like in this photo...
Because buying starter plants is so much easier, I haven't grown annuals totally from seed in about 20 years. But you do whatever you need to do. As a youngster, I did grow a lot of plants (both flowers & veggies) from seed for fun. Growing things from seed gives one a sense of accomplishment. So this won't be a totally new experience.
Unfortunately, the "reason" for having to grow annuals by seed in 2020 is new.
Nevertheless, if we all work together, that too will pass & life as normal will eventually return.
