Summer combines with Fall 2019

The Skipper on aging Summer flowers does look like a Fall scene.

However, the stifling 90 degree temperature with 80% humidity felt like a very hot Summer's Day. It was so hot and humid today that my T-shirt was soaked in less than 10 minutes outdoors. It was absolutely miserable to be outside. That super high humidity came from rain being on the way...

The weather pattern is supposed to change tomorrow with more normal, seasonal temperatures on the way. Hopefully, that doesn't then soon turn into a quick freeze and an early snowfall. Climate Change definitely is upon us... The past 4 weeks should have been pleasant Fall weather - not day after day of temperatures in the 90's.

However, when this heat wave does break, I have no idea what might be coming next.

Although I was unable to photograph the phenomenon, this afternoon we had swarms of hundreds of fast flying dragonflies (of varying sizes & species) darting around our deck and back yard. We do not live near water. I may occasionally see a lone dragonfly settle in our yard, but that has always been just a lone one. Until I realized the insects darting about in the hundreds were dragonflies, I first thought that perhaps a locust swarm had descended from the Heavens. It was a extremely eerie experience; like out of the Twilight Zone. Nature had gone berserk. I'd never seen anything like that before in my life. It went on for about 10 minutes before they all disappeared as fast as they had appeared.

Meanwhile, a skipper on the old Summer flowers is normal for this time of year. Thank goodness for some normality.

The high temperatures have made it so difficult for me to go out for long. This composition is an inspiration. Vote

What a superb sharp shot of this little skipper. Beautiful. I agree with your commentary, things are changing and things are not as usual in the natural world. V
