In Front of my Face 2019

Admittedly not the most technically perfect photograph. The shooting conditions were almost impossible. Lit only by moonlight, the Web was moving back & forth in a 20 MPH wind. The Spider was also on the move. I did my best to try to shoot - hand held in low light - between all the motion. Unfortunately, I couldn't get a higher shutter speed that was really need. I used manual focus because that was easier to catch the web moving forward & back. Anyhow, not great photography but an interesting memory.

I went to put the dogs out for the last time last night when I almost ran face first into this gal in her web. She hadn't been there earlier in the evening. Luckily, because she was back lit by the moon, I saw her & her web & was able to put my breaks on.

In the morning, she & her web were gone. However late tonight, she again returned. I watched her spin a new web (close to where her web had been last night). Because it was again windy, I didn't try for any photos. Unlike last night (where I would have run directly into her), she was also a few inches farther away tonight and higher up.

Anyhow, she was fascinating to watch. Nevertheless, I'm glad I saw her last night before walking face first straight into her web. Because her catch of insects in her web tonight seems to be extremely successful, I'm guessing that she will hang around for a few more nights at least. So anyone using that door to outside needs to be careful and look for her before stepping through the doorway.
