Early May, our dogwood tree is now in bloom;
which is their average, normal time of year for blooming here.
Hurray for Spring at last!!!
This week is also the week for me to start putting my house plants back out on the deck.
Although very late this year, the local Garden stores are also now finally offering outdoors flowers for sale. I was beginning to wonder if they ever would. Normally, the stores have their plants out by late March. But everything put out earlier(even in April) froze this year. So the stores then stopped offering any Spring plants. Seeing Spring & Summer flowers now for sale is a good sign that our very cold Spring has finally settled into a more normal Spring.
However, when I bought a new hibiscus at a Garden Center today, the guy loading the plant into my car said that he thinks that we're going directly into Summer. Well, maybe...It was 87 degrees and very humid. It definitely did feel more like Summer outside than Spring. Our air conditioner has been on for the entire month of May.
Even so, my dogwood (last of our Spring flowering trees) is currently in full bloom. That says it's May & it's still Spring!!! I won't consider things an early Summer until the Dogwoods are out of bloom.
