Winter Hit Spring Hard 2018

Sad to See

After a warm 83 degree day that helped the Bradford Pear tree to bloom, our area then had 48 straight hours of a hard freeze.

With tempts (on Saturday through Monday) being only 30 degrees Fahrenheit (or BELOW), the beautiful flowers on Bradford Pear gave up their fight. So did many of he emerging leaves on the tree. The snow didn't hurt the leaves as much as the prolonged bitter cold.

I wonder what will happen next.

A sad looking flower, Liz...

Oh dear, this is indeed a sad sight. Luckily our trees flowered earlier than yours and didn't have to contend with the prolonged freeze, although I'm sure the unseasonably hot and then unseasonably cold weather didn't help some plants any.

Oh, this makes me so sad. Spring is so short-lived as it is and then to have the beautiful blooms
crushed by the frost is very disappointing. We woke up to 3" of heavy wet snow this morning.
Luckily nothing has blossomed yet. Very nicely captured.
