Designed in the early 1920's in the style of Egyptian Revival architecture, Liberty Memorial is one of Kansas City's most iconic landmarks. Part of the museum complex, the tower stands 268 feet tall and is toped by the Flame of Inspiration; which at night can be seen for miles.

Each standing 40 feet tall, 4 carved, guardian spirits:
Courage, Honor, Patriotism, and Sacrifice
Each hold a sword and represent "protectors of peace".

The two Assyrian Sphinxes guarding the South entrance are:
"Memory" facing East to the WWI battlegrounds of France
with its wings shielding its eyes to the horrors of war
and
"Future" facing West with its wings shielding its eyes to the unknown.
