Quick story about how this was shot.
To provide me with a desired photo opt, I arranged with the Hot Doggers for them to drive past a certain spot on their way back to the Interstate. I got all my camera settings ready and waited for their approach.
However, just as the Wiernermobile hit the target area for me to rapidly fire off a series of shots with the Canon 1Dx, the camera battery unexpectedly died. I was standing there pushing the shutter, but nothing was happening.
Because the Wienermobile was in traffic with regular cars behind it, the Wienermobile couldn't stop. We also couldn't do a retake of this "drive away". The Hot Doggers, however, did slow down when they saw my frantic hand signals to them. That gave me enough time to get to my car (parked close by) and desperately grab the little Bridge camera. The FZ200 saved the day.
This is why I carry a back up, super zoom, fixed lens camera in addition to my Pro Bodies and changeable lenses.
Sometimes, the little, fixed lens camera gets the job done when the Pro equipment can't.
