Although more common in other parts of the country, Ross's Geese are considered very unusual to this area.
Smaller with a different head shape than a Snow Goose, a few "stray" Ross's Geese have been known to occasionally attach themselves to flocks of Snow Geese. Unless more knows what tell the difference between a Ross's Goose and a Snow Goose, a Ross's Goose can be mistaken for a Snow Goose. This Ross's Goose was very far from his normal home.
That is why I felt quite lucky to have spotted him in a crowd of literally hundreds of thousands of Snow Geese. I felt even more fortunate to have gotten this "close up".
